Who is that 9 year old girl and why Muhamed (PBUH) married her?
Ans: She was Sayyidhna 'Aishath Radhiyallah 'Anh. Regarding your question of criticizing Islam the answer is:
1. The responsibility of the prophet was very huge as we all know, so as to make easier for spreading his message, he even married to the daughters of very enemies of Islam then, he could make a friendship in them in that way

It is the custom of Saudhi Arabiyya that the son-in-law (daughter's husband) is very high post in their family. And Do you know:
when Muhamed (SAW) married to the daughter of Abu Sufyan (One of the greatest Enemy in whose leadership many wars were taken place), the daughter was forced to stay in the house of Muhamed (SAW) by ABU SUFYAN himself.

2. Because of the climate the Saudhi girls get the age of puberty very soon.
(if you don't believe in this, please visit there).
A 9 year old Saudhi (arab) girl physically looks like a 20 or 22 year old woman in India/Europe/America.
And it is a custom of Saudhi, or it makes no problem for them getting married to a very young age. Even Ali bin Talib (RA) married while he was some 10 to 15 years of age to an about 7 year old girl (daughter of Muhamed (SAW)).

3. Prophet (SAW) married to 'Aisha (RA), in the time of Abu Jahl*** (the pharaoh of the Ummah) and Abu Lahab. They said no commentary on that. NOT EVEN A SINGLE STATEMENT the had said in the history against his marriage to 'Hazrath 'Aisha Radhiyallah 'Anh.

4. And even today, one of my friend told that he met a wedding party, where a 50 year old man getting married to a 9 year old lady, and they have no objection.

5. Abdhullah ibn 'Amr bin Al-'Aas had only 9 year old age difference with his father. (We have 20+ year old difference. Don't we?).
And this 'Amr bin Al-'Aas was formerly a non muslim. (an arab). No one commented.

6. Imam Shafi'ee (Rahimahumullah) said he saw an women of 28 year old looking like a grand mother. (Note: Imam Shafi'ee wasn't a Saudhi citizen. He went there anyhow)

7. If you are asking that, Ok. He Muhamed (SAW), first marriage was with a WIDOW of 28 or 45 (difference in narration). But Muhamed (SAW) was then, called as the "Trustworthy man" in the people of Q'uraish.
Will you accept a marriage with an old women (that even a widow) while you are a famous handsome man with whom every parent is very pleased?
Of course not.

So, His marriages were for reasons. And it is the custom of Saudhi, you are asking.

Why muslim can marry 4 wives?:
Ans: before this know about the population status of bigger countries like America, Newyork etc.
if we human are allowed to marry only one mate, then there will surely be many people without husbands. And they have to live their life without...??? which makes evil behaviours in them. Like Lesbians.
So if there is a rule like that ofcourse then, there will not be any problem. Will there be?

Now back to Islam: Islam says IFFFFFFFFFFFF you can make equality among your wives then marry upto 4. But IF you cannot or afraid of that THEN MARRY ONLY ONE.

Are Muslim husbands permitted to hit their wives?:
Some few points about muslim women (according to Qur'an and authentic Hadhith) is:...

1. ALWAYS OBEDIENT TO HER HUSBAND:
In ur case, no need to be obedient. You may shout at each other and go away from the house With another MAN. Okay

2. SHE IS PREPARED TO FULLFIL HER HUSBAND'S WISHES, (as much as they can):
NOT EVEN IF SHE CAN'T. If she cannot, no one has the right to even talk about her. What do you know from Islam huh?

3. SHE TAKES CARE OF HUSBAND'S PROPERTIES AND THE CHILDREN:
Means not she be a bodyguard. It means to build up and raise another good generation (1000 times better than you). What do you know from Islam huh?

4. SHE HAS of course no right to MINGLE WITH OTHER MAN or MEN:
(This is barbaric). Okay.. And that is why there are innumerable fights b/w husband and wife in so called hollywood or any other wood. STARRR... you are boasting while your sis, or wife or mom being seduced by some body else HAPPILY.
Barbaric. Okay. But n ur case, the girls will have no much attachement to her husband coxxxxxx' she know she has many sex experiance and that is not even new to her.
If our wives are new (packed) we will have more comfort and more attachement.
